Yesterday,

I became a citizen.

My wife made the best comment on the financial crisis I have heard in a while.  NPR told us that the Treasury wants the banks to start making profitable loans.  Her comment was: Why don’t the banks want to make them anyway?

Congratulations! The banks don’t want to make loans because they’re scared, scared, scared. They’ve realized (suddenly) that the people they’ve been making loans to for the past 8, 10 years just can’t…pay…them…back. Whoops!

    Thanks.
I agree. If the banks smell profit, they will pounce. They are waiting for the bottom, because that is when the deals are good….
